Football Recap: Thompson Skates Past Rugby with Ease

Thompson's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Rugby Panthers, posting a 54-18 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tommies, who have now won three games by 36 points or more so far this season.

Charlie Yon produced another solid performance rushing for 229 yards and one score while picking up 10.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 65 receiving yards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 114.3 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Gavin Oster, who threw for 185 yards and one touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Thompson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 342 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Thompson now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Rugby, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Thompson is set to face off against their familiar foe Grafton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Rugby will square off against rival Carrington on Friday.
