Baseball Recap: Mt. Spokane Comes Up Short

Mt. Spokane dropped their record down to 14-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 12-2 to the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since April 3rd.

As for Gonzaga Prep, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

For Gonzaga Prep's part, Dylan Croall spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Grant Yost was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Jackson Mott was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Mt. Spokane and Gonzaga Prep should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked 17th) will meet Lewis & Clark (ranked 168th) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Gonzaga Prep will challenge Ridgeline at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (21 vs. 115).
