Basketball Recap: Bunker Hill Comes Up Short

Bunker Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat. They were beaten by the New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers 64-24. The Minutemen lost against the Vipers in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 46-31 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savana Howell, who posted 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Howell a new career-high in field goal percentage (80%). Natalie Dennis was another key player, going 6 of 15 to rack up 14 points and six rebounds.

Bunker Hill's loss dropped their record down to 2-22. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-9.

Bunker Hill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 40-37 victory against Metro-East Lutheran on the 8th. As for New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-29 defeat against Nokomis on the 10th.
