Softball Game Preview: Turner Trojans vs. Delavan-Darien Comets

The Turner Trojans will face off against the Delavan-Darien Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Turner will be strutting in after a victory while Delavan-Darien will be coming in after a loss.

Turner took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past East Troy 11-1. Turner has beaten East Troy the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest East Troy has come to flipping the script.

Olyvia Piranio spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Maddy Hoenig, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Crall, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Delavan-Darien was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Big Foot, falling 13-0.

Turner's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Delavan-Darien, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Turner took their win against Delavan-Darien in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 24-0 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Comets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
