Baseball Recap: Hatton Comes Up Short

Hatton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Homewood Patriots. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly five runs.

Hatton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Jeffreys, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Hatton is 9-3 when Jeffreys posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

Hatton's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Homewood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Hatton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-0 loss against Daphne on the 28th. As for Homewood, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Sardis at 10:00 a.m. Sardis is coming into the contest with three straight defeats at home, meaning Homewood will have to defend against a team out to give their home crowd a much needed win.
