Softball Recap: University School of Jackson Triumphs

University School of Jackson's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Gibson Hornets a 3-0 shutout. This was payback for the Bruins, who suffered an 8-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Emerson Fair, who gave up just four hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep South Gibson off the board. The dominant performance gave Fair a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, University School of Jackson's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Polk, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

University School of Jackson's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for South Gibson, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Looking ahead, University School of Jackson will welcome Jackson South Side at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. University School of Jackson is facing Jackson South Side at the right time seeing as Jackson South Side is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for South Gibson, they will head out to take on Collierville at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
