Baseball Recap: Piedmont Comes Up Short

After flying high against Forest Hills last Friday, Piedmont came back down to earth. The Panthers fell just short of the Anson Bearcats by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Peyton Archer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Piedmont saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Hall, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Piedmont's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Anson, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Piedmont will host Central Cabarrus at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in the Panthers' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Vikings have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Anson, they will square off against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
