Football Recap: Bradenton Christian Picks Up 13th Consecutive Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bradenton Christian had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took down the Academy at the Lakes Wildcats 28-12. The win was just business as usual for the Panthers, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.

Bradenton Christian can attribute much of their success to Dylan Herron, who rushed for 77 yards and one TD on only nine carries. That's the most rushing yards Herron has posted since back in September.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bradenton Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 209 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 85.1 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five games they've averaged 185.3.

Another reason for the win was Bradenton Christian's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Zackary Feikema with three.

Bradenton Christian's victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Academy at the Lakes, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

Looking ahead, Bradenton Christian will square off against Real Life Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Raptors have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. Academy at the Lakes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
