Preview: Andover Trojans vs. Goddard Lions

Andover is 9-1 against Goddard since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Andover Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Goddard Lions at 7:30 p.m. Andover has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 553 points over their last eight matchups.

A well-balanced attack led Andover over Arkansas City in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Andover blew Arkansas City out of the water with a 66-37 final score. Given Andover's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Arkansas City is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Blake Rucker continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points. He hasn't dropped below 18 points for four straight games. Joshua Kim was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and two blocks.

Meanwhile, even though Valley Center scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Goddard still came out on top. Goddard managed a 65-59 victory over Valley Center. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Goddard.

Andover pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Goddard, their win bumped their record up to 10-5.

Andover came up short against Goddard in their previous matchup back in January, falling 59-50. Can Andover avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
