Basketball Recap: Sulphur Takes a Loss

Sulphur lost against Madill back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sulphur Bulldogs were dealt a 73-22 loss at the hands of the Madill Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while the Wildcats are ranked 16th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elexis Holmes, who went 8 for 12 en route to 18 points along with seven boards and six assists. Holmes' evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Luciana Douglas, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 17 points and three steals.

Sulphur's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Madill, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Sulphur will take on Plainview at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Plainview is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season. As for Madill, they will face off against Calera at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
