Baseball Game Preview: Boquet Valley Griffins vs. Lake Placid Bombers

Boquet Valley hasn't had much luck against Lake Placid recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Griffins will take on the Bombers at 4:30 p.m. Boquet Valley has given up an average of 15.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Boquet Valley is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season last Friday. They came up short against Schroon Lake, falling 13-3. On the bright side, the three- run performance marked the Griffins' highest-scoring contest to date.

Meanwhile, Lake Placid earned a 9-6 win over Schroon Lake on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bombers.

Jarrett Mihill and Vann Morrelli were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Mihill pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Morrelli pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Mihill went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Morrelli went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hyler Isham, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Lawrence, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Lake Placid's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. As for Boquet Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Boquet Valley suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Lake Placid in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Griffins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
