Basketball Recap: Central Eagles vs. Forest Hills Yellow Jackets

Central lost against Forest Hills back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Central Eagles were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dwayne Louallen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Louallen a new career-high in offensive rebounds (five). Tazhir Webber was another key player, posting ten points in addition to four steals.

Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Amari Melton had an outrageously good game for Forest Hills as he went 8 for 14 en route to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Landon Blakeney, who scored five points plus ten rebounds.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Forest Hills, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-2 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will take on Piedmont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Forest Hills, they will challenge Porter Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
