Baseball Preview: Carson Cougars vs. South Rowan Raiders
The Carson Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the South Rowan Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carson's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so South Rowan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Carson easily dispatched Concord on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Carson fell just short of Hickory Ridge by a score of 13-11 on Wednesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this matchup were averaging 4.1 runs allowed.
Ryan Snyder was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayven Parks, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Carson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Rowan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over West Cabarrus on Monday.
Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for South Rowan, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
