Football Recap: Somerset Academy - Canyons Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Somerset Academy - Canyons and Lakewood squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Somerset Academy - Canyons had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Spartans and fell 52-7. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Spartans are ranked 34th).

Jorris Shephard threw for 53 yards on nine of 23 attempts. Rochener Ezekiel Seraphin Iii was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards. On the ground, Davontey Oliver rushed for 42 yards and one TD.

Lakewood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ayden Wallace out in front who threw for 153 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. The Spartans also got help from Sanjae Green, who showed off his sure hands for 116 receiving yards.

Somerset Academy - Canyons now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Lakewood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

Somerset Academy - Canyons does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakewood, they will square off against Glades Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Spartans 9.4, the Raiders 7) so any points scored will be well earned.
