Basketball Recap: Wootton Patriots vs. Sherwood Warriors
Wootton lost against Sherwood back in March of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wootton Patriots fell just short of the Sherwood Warriors by a score of 41-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Patriots have suffered against the Warriors since February 17, 2017.

Despite the loss, Wootton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Malia Bellamy dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Bellamy also set a new season-high mark in blocks with eight. Megan Lomotan also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Even though they lost, Wootton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.
Sherwood had a senior duo take command as Adrianna Nnabue posted nine points in addition to six boards and three steals and Avery Anderson went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Graham, who scored four points and four steals.
Wootton now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Sherwood, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Wootton has already played their next matchup (against Churchill), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sherwood has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Richard Montgomery.
