Football Game Preview: Veribest Falcons vs. Robert Lee Steers

Veribest hasn't had much luck against Robert Lee recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Steers at 7:30 p.m. Veribest has given up an average of 40.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Veribest's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Water Valley last Friday. They were dealt a 46-0 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Wildcats are ranked first).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-30, which was the final score in Robert Lee's tilt against Water Valley on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Steers in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Robert Lee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Josh Garcez picked up 73 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.

Veribest's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Robert Lee, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Veribest came up short against Robert Lee in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 76-63. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
