Softball Recap: Maconaquah Gets the Win

Maconaquah lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tri-Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Braves were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Trojans on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Braves needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Tianna Rader was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Rader was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haylee Scarlett, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Shaela Brazzel also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Maconaquah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Maconaquah's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Tri-Central, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Maconaquah will take on Kokomo at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tri-Central, they will host Faith Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
