Softball Recap: Bloomington Purple Raiders vs. Normal Community Ironmen

Bloomington dropped their record down to 15-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Normal Community Ironmen by a score of 2-0. If the Purple Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 5-1 to the Ironmen when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Normal Community's batters probably weren't too happy with Reilly Vetter, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up two walks). Vetter has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bloomington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Nichols, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Normal Community, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games.

On Normal Community's side, not much got past Ava Prevo, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Bloomington off the board.

As of now, neither the Purple Raiders nor the Ironmen have any future games scheduled.
