Basketball Game Preview: Purcell Dragons vs. Elgin Owls

The Purcell Dragons will face off against the Elgin Owls at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Tuesday, Purcell was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to Lindsay. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Elgin was beaten by El Reno 80-52 on Tuesday. The Owls haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Purcell, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Purcell didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Elgin in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win. Will Purcell repeat their success, or does Elgin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
