Softball Recap: Uxbridge's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to 12

Uxbridge put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Grafton Gators a 6-0 shutout. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gators, too.

Erin O'Day made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lola Grube was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Gabriela Belanger was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Uxbridge's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Grafton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Uxbridge will head out to face off against Tantasqua Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 1, the Warriors 0.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Grafton, they will take on Leicester at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
