Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Hornets vs. Waynesville Spartans

The Monroe Hornets will face off against the Waynesville Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Monroe will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Bellbrook, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Monroe escaped with a win on Friday against Bellbrook by the margin of a single free throw, 60-59.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Waynesville beat Valley View 69-63 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Waynesville.

Monroe pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Waynesville, they have also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Monroe ended up a good deal behind Waynesville in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, losing 51-35. Can Monroe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
