Volleyball Recap: Malcolm Wins High-Profile Contest Against Norfolk Catholic

Malcolm faced Norfolk Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Clippers had just enough and edged out the Knights 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Clippers have posted since September 27th.

Malcolm had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-21, 25-16.

Payton Dolliver paced Malcolm's offense, picking up 15 kills. Dolliver got some help from Allie Blair and her 36 assists. Blair was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Malcolm is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Norfolk Catholic, their loss ended a 17-match streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-3.

Malcolm wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Nebraska City on the 7th. As for Norfolk Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Aquinas on the 7th.
