Recap: Portal Panthers vs. Turner County Titans
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Portal Panthers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 35-12 margin over Turner County. The result was nothing new for Portal, who have now won seven matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.
Portal's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Coleman, who rushed for 61 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 132 yards and a touchdown on only eight passes. Landon Ross was another key contributor, rushing for 114 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Turner County still got an impressive performance from Ke'arrin Dawsey, who picked up 153 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The victory (which was Portal's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.8 points per game. As for Turner County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Portal will stay at home for another week and welcome Telfair County at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. Turner County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
