Basketball Game Preview: Brandon Bulldogs vs. Meridian Wildcats

Brandon is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Meridian is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Brandon Bulldogs will host the Meridian Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brandon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Meridian likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, everything went Brandon's way against Oak Grove as Brandon made off with a 57-31 win. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Warriors are ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Braylon Barnes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 27 points along with five boards and three steals. His evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Jackson, who posted six points and three steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Meridian faced off against Petal on Friday. Meridian took down Petal 68-53.

Meridian has also been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Brandon, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.

Brandon didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Meridian in their previous meeting on January 10th, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win. Does Brandon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Meridian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
