The Yutan Chieftains will challenge the Johnson County Central Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Yutan took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over St. Paul.
Yutan walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-16, 25-17, 25-12.

Yutan's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Allison Kirchmann, who had eight digs and two aces, and Kenzie Govier, who had six digs and four assists. That's the most assists Govier has posted since back in August.
Meanwhile, Johnson County Central put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Elmwood-Murdock 3-0.
While Johnson County Central won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-23, 25-18.
Johnson County Central found their leader in sophomore Sophia Schmid, who had 13 digs and one assist.
Johnson County Central's victory bumped their record up to 31-0. As for Yutan, their win bumped their record up to 21-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Yutan has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Johnson County Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Yutan beat Johnson County Central 3-1 in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
