 The Burke Bulldogs will head out on the road to  square off against  the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. Both teams come into the  matchup bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
 On Wednesday, Burke needed a bit of extra time to put away Omaha Central. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past the Eagles  11-10. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for Burke.
  Nolan Wilcox looked comfortable as he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Jackson Foster was a standout: he scored two  runs while  getting on base  in four of his six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of  Casey Gilliland, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
 Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Papillion-LaVista, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Bellevue East out  4-2.
  Brett Hoelscher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned  (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up seven Ks.
 At the plate, Papillion-LaVista's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Issac Pamaran, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-2.
 Burke's victory bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Papillion-LaVista, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four games,  which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record  this season.
 Burke came out on top in a nail-biter against Papillion-LaVista  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2022, sneaking past  7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Burke since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
