Baseball Recap: Batavia Takes a Loss

If Batavia was feeling good fresh off their 28-0 takedown of Mt. Healthy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Sycamore Aviators by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Aviators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Brayden Schmittou made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Batavia's loss dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Sycamore, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-14.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Batavia will challenge La Salle at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sycamore, they are taking a road trip to challenge Little Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Aviators' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
