Football Game Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Torres Toros

The McLane Highlanders will face off against the Torres Toros at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in McLane's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

McLane's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They really took it to Fresno for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

McLane found their leader in sophomore Juan Raygoza, who picked up four sacks and made 12 total tackles (10.5 for loss). Another player making a difference was Demetrius Simon, who picked up 45 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to McLane's defense and their ten sacks. Raygoza led the group effort, picking up four of those sacks all by himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 12.

Special teams played a big role in the game for McLane, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Julyen Scott, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Torres took a blow against Roosevelt on Friday, falling 46-14.

Torres' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for McLane, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

McLane strolled past Torres in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 25-7. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Toros turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
