Recap: Vero Beach Indians vs. Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds
The Vero Beach Indians can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 68-40 victory over Lincoln Park Academy on the road. Given Vero Beach's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Lincoln Park Academy is ranked 714th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vero Beach's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Holderman led the charge by scoring 18 points. Jaylen Shelly was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Despite the defeat, Lincoln Park Academy saw an underclassman step up: Franco Monaco scored 21 points. That's the first time this season that Monaco scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of J'Shaun Williams, who scored eight points.
Vero Beach's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Lincoln Park Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
