Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Braden River

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Braden River had no problem doing just that on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 64-49 victory over the Spoto Spartans. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on five straight.

Leading Braden River to victory were Lawaiian Long and Deven Womack. Long went 10 for 20 on his way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals, while Womack almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Long is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Mason Ackerman, who posted nine points.

Braden River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Braden River pushed their record up to 13-13 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Spoto, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9.

Braden River will take on Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jesuit knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Braden River likes a good challenge. Spoto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
