Covington took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against South Gibson, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Chargers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets on Friday, sneaking past 4-2. The win was familiar territory for the Chargers, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Covington pushed their record up to 15-12-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for South Gibson, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Covington beat the Hornets by a score of 4-2 later that day.
