Baseball Recap: Glades Day Gators vs. Williston Red Devils

Glades Day and Williston squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Glades Day had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Williston Red Devils by a score of 6-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Glades Day of the 6-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Marquis Clarke made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.

On Williston's side, they got a great performance from Anthony Gardea as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Gardea has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carter Benton, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Waylon Geiger, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Glades Day's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Williston, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-18.
