Scituate extends home losing streak to 15

Recap: Scituate Spartans vs. Woonsocket Villa Novans

This season hasn't been kind to the Scituate Spartans, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-41 loss to they on Tuesday.

Scituate lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jake Gurjian, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Ryan Larsh, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woonsocket to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamaury Barr, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Angel Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Scituate bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Woonsocket, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scituate will challenge West Warwick at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (West Warwick is ranked 37th, while Scituate is ranked 53rd). Woonsocket will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Portsmouth at 6:45 p.m. on January 8th.
