Baseball Recap: Northwestern Wildcats vs. Laurel Spartans

Northwestern fell victim to Laurel and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 12-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 14, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Alberto Weaver was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 15 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

Northwestern's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Laurel, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
