Baseball Recap: Franklin Victorious

It's playoff time, and Franklin had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Downtown Magnets Suns 1-0. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.

Franklin gave Isaiah Genie the start and clearly made the right call: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over 4.2 innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Genie a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for Franklin and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Downtown Magnets, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.

Coming up, Franklin will face off against Sherman Oaks CES at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 13.5 runs per game this season. Downtown Magnets does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
