Baseball Recap: Clearwater Drops Season-High Score on Gibbs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clearwater). Everything went their way against the Gibbs Gladiators on Wednesday as they made off with a 24-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tornadoes with their most commanding win of the season.

Keenan Jack made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Jack was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Landon Kauble and George Tzorbatzoglou did most of the damage at the plate: Kauble scored two runs, while Tzorbatzoglou scored two runs while going 1-for-1. That's the most runs Kauble has posted since back in March.

Clearwater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .763. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Clearwater's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-8. As for Gibbs, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Clearwater will take on Blake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gibbs, they will head out to square off against Booker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tornadoes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.41 runs per game on average), something the Gladiators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
