Things were looking good for Boaz after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Etowah.

Meanwhile, Southside entered their tilt with Gadsden City on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Titans 17-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jalyn Allen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Southside let Lauren Mckee and Rylann Shaw run wild. Mckee scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Shaw went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Shaw has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ilana Stewart, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Southside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gadsden City only posted an OBP of .389.

Boaz came out on top in a nail-biter against Southside in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 11-10. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
