After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Great Bend, Manhattan was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Emporia Spartans 5-4. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Manhattan pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Emporia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Manhattan beat the Spartans by a score of 6-4 later that day.
