Basketball Game Preview: Richland Northeast Cavaliers vs. Westwood Redhawks

Richland Northeast hasn't had much luck against Westwood recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Richland Northeast Cavaliers will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Westwood Redhawks at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Richland Northeast turned things around against Columbia on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Capitals by a score of 45-36.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Richland Northeast to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emmanuel Ard, who posted 13 points along with five boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Ard a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Christopher Asuzu, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Westwood put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over Lakewood. The 48-point effort marked the Redhawks' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Richland Northeast's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Westwood, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
