Soccer Recap: Mount Vernon Gets the Win

After failing to score in their last contest, Mount Vernon made sure to put some goals up on the board against Chapel Hill on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chapel Hill Red Devils, sneaking past 4-3. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but the Tigers were the better team in the second half.

Mount Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Chapel Hill, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Mount Vernon take on the Sulphur Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Vernon's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Chapel Hill, they will face off against North Lamar at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Lamar will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Chapel Hill surely won't give up without a fight.
