Baseball Game Preview: Pleasant Valley Bears vs. Scranton Prep Cavaliers

The Pleasant Valley Bears will face off against the Scranton Prep Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Pleasant Valley and Stroudsburg have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Saturday. The Bears took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountaineers. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Mountaineers: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Scranton Prep sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over West Scranton on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Cavaliers have won by exactly two runs.

Johnny Petrosky was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Petrosky was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on AJ Croom, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Scranton Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory made it two in a row for Scranton Prep and bumps their season record up to 5-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Pleasant Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
