Softball Recap: Switzerland County Comes Up Short

Switzerland County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Washington Mustangs. If the Pacers were looking for revenge after losing 23-4 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Macy Cook was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alayna Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Switzerland County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for New Washington, their record is now 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Switzerland County will host Southwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for New Washington, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Austin at 5:30 p.m.
