Volleyball Game Preview: Amity Regional Spartans vs. Woodstock Academy Centaurs

The Amity Regional Spartans will square off against the Woodstock Academy Centaurs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Amity Regional will be strutting in after a win while Woodstock Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Amity Regional is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Foran, who was ranked 16th at the time (Amity Regional was ranked 14th). The Spartans blew past the Lions 3-0 on Friday.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Woodstock Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of South Windsor by a score of 3-2.

Woodstock Academy wouldn't go down easily and took South Windsor into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking nine-point loss. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-22, 25-14, 21-25, 15-6.

Amity Regional will need to focus on slowing down Gianna Musumeci, one of several Woodstock Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She had 14 digs and one assist. Musumeci has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Woodstock Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Amity Regional, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
