Basketball Recap: Sidney Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Greene County over Quitman

Greene County and Quitman squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Greene County had to settle for second. They lost to the Quitman Panthers on the road by a 61-44 margin. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Greene County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sidney Jackson, who en route to 14 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Jase Matthews was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Greene County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Greene County's loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Quitman, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Greene County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Quitman, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-35 defeat against Forrest County Agricultural on the 15th.
