Softball Recap: Belvidere Bucs vs. Jefferson J-Hawks
After flying high against Rockford East on Thursday, Belvidere came back down to earth. The Bucs fell just short of the Jefferson J-Hawks by a score of 10-9 on Friday. The Bucs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the J-Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Belvidere's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Jefferson, their victory ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belvidere will venture away from home to challenge Wauconda at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.9 runs per game on average), something the Bucs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Jefferson, they will head out to face off against Boylan Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The J-Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
