The Wake Prep Academy Guardians are taking a road trip to face off against the American Leadership Academy-Johnston Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Wake Prep Academy's victory against NCSSM: Durham wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wake Prep Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past NCSSM: Durham 5-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Guardians.
The team relied heavily on Easton Booser, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. Harrison Brown also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, American Leadership Academy-Johnston put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Eastern Wayne as American Leadership Academy-Johnston made off with a 23-0 victory. That looming 23-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Patriots yet this season.
Jaden Pennington and Jayden Bicki made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pennington tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bicki struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). What's more, Pennington posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Pennington scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Bicki scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Teagan Nickerson was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Henry, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
American Leadership Academy-Johnston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .739. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Wake Prep Academy's record now sits at 3-1. As for American Leadership Academy-Johnston, their record is now 8-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wake Prep Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like American Leadership Academy-Johnston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
