Baseball Game Preview: Lake Ridge Eagles vs. Boswell Pioneers

For the second straight game, Lake Ridge will face off against Boswell. The Eagles will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lake Ridge has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Boswell will arrive with seven straight victories.

Lake Ridge fell victim to Boswell and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 1-0.

Lake Ridge got a good showing from Hayden Jones, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Jones has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lake Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Yates, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Boswell's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lake Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15-3.
