Softball Recap: St. Marys Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

St. Marys put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let the Bradford Owls get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Flying Dutch might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Nobody will forget Avery Eckels's heroic performance anytime soon (especially Bradford's batters): she turned in a perfect game. Eckels also set a new season-high mark in strikeouts with 11.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaylen Eozzo, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Molly Hanslovan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

St. Marys always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

St. Marys' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Bradford, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

St. Marys didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-3 defeat against Punxsutawney on the 23rd. As for Bradford, they are taking a road trip to challenge Port Allegany at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Gators have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Owls will no doubt try to take advantage of.
