Football Recap: Parrish Community Extends Winning Streak to Five

Parrish Community won the last time they faced Lakewood Ranch and things went their way on Friday too. The Bulls took down the Mustangs 29-10. The Bulls pushed the score to 23-3 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs cut but never quite recovered from.

Parrish Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brycen Volz led the charge by throwing for 191 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 46 yards. That's the most rushing yards Volz has posted since back in October of 2024. A healthy portion of Volz's aerial production (136 yards to be exact) went to Brandon Trucano, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Parrish Community didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Lakewood Ranch to a completion percentage of just 40%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Kaleb Exume and Juan Miguel Genao-Tordesillas, who each logged one passes deflected. Parrish Community wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

The win (which was Parrish Community's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.4 points on average over those games. As for Lakewood Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Parrish Community will head out on the road to take on Sarasota at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulls will be up against the Sailors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Lakewood Ranch, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Bayshore at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs are facing the Bruins at the right time seeing as the Bruins are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
