Softball Game Preview: Hart Hawks vs. Highland Bulldogs

The Hart Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Highland Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Hart made up a huge gap compared to their last game against West Ranch, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hawks fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Natalie Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Highland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three last Thursday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Royals. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since March 18th.

Aubrey Reyes was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Byrd, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Highland pushed their record up to 17-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hart, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.

Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hart hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
